Domain Name System
DNS is more complex, so if you are using Active
Directory you will have DNS ready to go. IF not then you will
have to set-up the zone your self, but not much to do there. Yes
a wizard is there to help and to get things in the right place,
once the wizard has done you will have a zone with minimal info
in it. All you have to do is put in any host file that is needed
for virtual servers and the computers on the network will put
in their info at boot time, but the hard bit is if you have a
web site on the network and you have a router to get out on the
Internet. Well I can tell you that I have had a lot of trouble
getting things to play, and in the end I deleted the "."
folder and set my DNS to the only DNS on the network. It work
fine, I can see my web site and any site on the Internet.
DNS on linux is quite easy to setup, just go into
netconf and setup the domains you need. And just like windows,
if you edit out the "." entry you get a local only DNS.
